Connecting Claude or ChatGPT
This page is for travellers. Before you start, check that your travel agency has enabled the AI assistant connection (see Setup for agencies) and that your account signs in with an email address and password. Accounts that can only sign in through single sign-on (SSO) cannot connect an assistant yet.
What you need
- A CityCity account.
- The address of your agency's connection, which is your booking site's address followed by
/api/v2/mcp:
https://{agency-domain}/api/v2/mcp
Replace {agency-domain} with the address you use to sign in to CityCity, for example book.example.com. Use the same address every time.
- An assistant that supports custom MCP connectors, such as Claude or ChatGPT. Where the setting lives depends on the assistant, its version and your plan; the steps below are a guide.
Claude
- Open Settings → Connectors.
- Choose Add custom connector.
- Give it a name (for example "CityCity") and paste the connection address.
- Click Connect. A CityCity sign-in page opens.
ChatGPT
- Open Settings → Connectors and turn on developer mode under Advanced if your plan requires it.
- Add a new connector and paste the connection address.
- Choose OAuth as the authentication method and continue. A CityCity sign-in page opens.
Signing in
The sign-in page belongs to your agency and shows which application is asking for access. Check that the name and the website address shown look right, then sign in with your usual CityCity email and password. If your company uses multi-factor authentication you will be asked for the code, as when you sign in normally.
Your password is entered on the CityCity page only and is never given to the assistant.
After signing in you are taken back to the assistant and the connection is ready.
Trying it out
Start with questions that only read information:
- "What trips do I have in the next month?"
- "Which hotel do I usually book in Stockholm?"
- "What does my travel policy say about flights?"
Then try a search:
- "Find me the cheapest train from Göteborg to Stockholm next Tuesday morning."
- "I need a flight from Gothenburg to Arlanda on 12 November, arriving before 10."
When you ask the assistant to book, it shows you the itinerary, the fare, any extras and the total price. It books only after you answer yes. Read the summary before you confirm.
!!! tip "Keep booking confirmations switched on" Assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT can ask you to approve each action before it runs. Leave this on for the booking actions. Do not choose "always allow" for them.
If something cannot be booked
The assistant will tell you when it has to send you to the regular booking site, for example because the booking needs approval, falls outside your travel policy, or has to be paid with a credit card. Complete those bookings on the CityCity site as usual.
Disconnecting
Remove the CityCity connector in the assistant's settings. To use it again, connect again and sign in. If you think someone else has had access to your connection, tell your travel agency.
